Our Story
A wiper family, three decades in.
Two generations of hustle, innovation, and service.

Chapter 1 · 1991 — 2015
A Trunk Full of Wipers and a Dream
In 1991, in Paterson, New Jersey, Paula Lombard started selling windshield wiper blades out of the trunk of her car.
Entrepreneurship was nothing new to Paula. She had already sold purses and jewelry locally and at events held in her family's barber shop. After opening a café, countless conversations with her landlord, Steve Schwartz, led to an opportunity that would change everything.
Steve owned several car washes and noticed the same problem every day - customers desperately needed new wiper blades. Together they founded Wipers Express.
Paula loaded inventory into her vehicle and spent her days driving throughout New Jersey, calling on gas stations and training attendants to sell and install wiper blades. Because New Jersey gas stations are full-service, replacing worn wipers became an easy way for station owners to increase revenue while providing better service to their customers.
Through years of hard work, setbacks, and perseverance, Wipers Express grew into one of the country's largest independent windshield wiper distributors. Along the way, the company became an early Jiffy Lube Vendor of the Year and helped launch Rain-X wiper blades when Rain-X was still primarily known for its glass treatment products.
After more than a decade of success, the industry began to change. Large national brands increasingly sourced products directly from overseas manufacturers, bypassing distributors altogether. One of the very brands Paula had helped build went directly to her factory and ended the relationship overnight. Several major customers soon followed.
Rather than walk away, the family reinvented the business.
Wipers Express evolved into Wexco Industries after acquiring the OEM Wiper Systems division of a well-known manufacturer. Over the next two decades, Wexco became a respected supplier of complete windshield wiper systems for commercial trucks, buses, RVs, emergency vehicles, agricultural equipment, military vehicles, and other specialty applications.

Chapter 2 · 2016 — 2023
A New Generation of Entrepreneurs
With Wexco focused on OEM manufacturing, Paula's sons, Anthony and Arthur Leardi, launched a new aftermarket company in 2016 with her support and blessing.
Their goal was simple: return to the customer who started it all - the everyday driver looking for dependable replacement wiper blades.
As they studied the market, they noticed something no one else seemed to be paying attention to. They read thousands of one-star reviews from competing brands and found the same complaint over and over: Installing new wiper blades was frustrating. Instead of accepting that as part of the experience, they solved it.
In 2017, they introduced Clix Wipers, a unique quick-change system designed to make replacing windshield wipers easier than ever. Customers install a small Starter Clip on their wiper arm just once. After that, every future replacement simply clicks into place in seconds. No confusing adapters or complicated instructions found on traditional wiper blades.
But they didn't stop there. For the first time, windshield wipers became something drivers could personalize. Clix introduced interchangeable colors and custom designs, transforming a product people normally ignored into an automotive accessory enthusiasts actually enjoyed showing off.
The combination of simple installation, innovative engineering, and customizable designs created something genuinely different in the industry.
In 2022, Clix Wipers expanded into more than 6,000 AutoZone stores nationwide. Today, Clix Wipers are sold at major retailers, repair shops, installers, and online customers across the United States. The customizable designs have become especially popular among Jeep owners, off-road enthusiasts, muscle car owners, and automotive clubs.
